Well, what stop motion tricks can you share?
I personally like the sticky-tape method.
Lets say you want to make a car look like it's falling off a cliff (a shelf). You sticky tape the car to the wall it's in front of and just keep moving it down (if you get what I mean)

Bafran - image-editing software (basic). It's free!
Basically, if you want to make a stop-motion of a car going off a ramp and flying in mid air, you first take a picture of the background without the car. Then, you film as normal only with a block or something underneath the car to keep in off the ground. Then, you add both layers, and use an eraser tool to get rid of the parts of the main layer you don't want (aka the block), so when it's finished, you have a flying car!

I use GIMP. It's free, nearly as good as Photoshop. You can use intelligent scissors to cut around object. You can blur and feather the cut edges, pixel faces, and then use eraser for anymore stuff. There's tonnes of other things you can do, as well.
This should really go in what software, shouldn't it?

I like. Normally you take photos of each frame and not video them, but that method works just fine.
