John Wentlocke huffed and puffed over rocky mountains and perilous cliffs, three men behind him and four in front. There had been twenty when they first left their home, but one by one they had succumbed to the heat and died. At least, they thought it was the heat. They came to a fork in the dark caverns they were exploring, and they stopped. The leader summoned Wentlocke forward and spoke to him, sharply. "We do not know which way to go. Try the left cavern, John. I know we can trust you." Wentlocke agreed, and after taking a deep breath began to walk down the cavern. The others waited with bated breath for Wentlocke's cry and duly it came. Only it wasn't a cry of delight or of disappointment, but one of sheer terror. Wentlocke was the first human to encounter the evil Killer Bunnies and they had acquired a taste for human flesh. Wentlocke ran out of the cavern, bleeding and half-dead, before collapsing in front of the shocked men. John Wentlocke was dead.
The year was 1769.
