Chris spoke, a well-prepared monologue that told the story:
"Me and Mac had just left the pub and we were carrying each of us a bottle of beer. The barkeep's son walked past us - he must've been taking over from old Jom and was just back from the off-licence. So we looked and saw that he was carrying twelve bottles of krug. If you remember, they stopped selling that because nobody was buying it. Mac and I agreed that this was pretty weird.
"But that's not the strange thing. You see, about ten minutes later we were walking down that back-alley off Ariel Street when we passed the barkeep again. He was carrying eight cans of Fosters. Mac asked him what he was doing and he told us he was taking over from Jom. So we asked if he'd passed us earlier - he said that he'd only just left the restaurant beside the Horse's Shoe. But me and Mac are both certain that we saw him before. What do you make of that, Jack?" But Jack was silent.
What up? I say "indeed" a lot.
